The registration procedure for 2026 is the same as in 2025. Registration opens on November 5 at 12:00 noon and will remain open for one week, closing at midnight on November 12. The participation requirement for the Laugavegur Ultra Marathon is 370 ITRA points. It is important that all runners check their ITRA points carefully and enter them correctly into the registration system. If the demand exceeds the available spots in the race, a lottery will be held among registered participants. The results will be announced on November 19. You can see all the key dates here.
During registration, participants can choose to pay the entry fee with all major credit cards and/or a gift voucher. After completing registration, participants will receive a confirmation email. If no confirmation email is received, the registration has not gone through.
Want to run with a friend (or friends)?
Those who want to be in the same starting group must register together in the system. Runners who register together will be placed in the same group, but the actual placement in starting groups will be based on ITRA points. For example, if two runners register together, the lower ITRA score will be used to determine group placement.

Runners earn ITRA points by participating in trail races recognized by the International Trail Running Association (ITRA). Many races in Iceland and around the world are affiliated with ITRA. Runners who have previously participated in the Laugavegur Ultra Marathon and finished within the time limit receive at least 370 ITRA points. We encourage all runners to check their ITRA profile as soon as possible—sometimes runners have multiple profiles, but ITRA can merge them.
